Since several players have asked what they can do to stay fit and prepare for next year, I have drafted a training program utilizing body weight and Olympic style lifting to provide a guide for players interested in improving their overall athletic potential. This is a 10 week complexes based program drawn from training regiments used by professional and collegiate athletes, advanced martial artists, and special forces. It provides the basis for elevated levels of fitness through a combination of metabolic and full range lifting techniques intended to promote a balance of stamina, strength, and endurance. For now, I suggest players give it a try during the next few months to gain an edge on the competition when we take to the ice in October.
