ACHA Division II All Stars

I'm sure most players know by now, but I wanted to be sure all were informed of Portland State Hockey's success in being represented at the Div II All Star challenge 2009.

Several PSU players were submitted for consideration and evaluation for the ACHA West Independent All Star Team.  After dialog and correspondence with the Head Coach of the team, players Anthony Libonati and Alex Zsenyuk, along with Pat Markunas as an alternate, were chosen from the Portland State club.

This is a great honor to all involved with the program and these 3 players specifically.

Per my understanding at this time, Alex Zsenyuk and Pat Markunas will represent PSU during the 1st ever ACHA All Star Challenge, April 3-5, 2009 in West Chester, PA hosted by Ice Line Arena.  Anthony Libonati has opted out due to a schedule conflict with academics, a natural and wise choice of prioritization.

I wish Alex and Pat the best of luck.  They have the support and recognition of teammates, fans, and club staff.  Congratulations!

With the 2008-2009 Portland State Vikings Hockey season now complete, we should all feel a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.  Despite some rather difficult obstacles placed in our path as a result of the politics of loss, the club surmounted the odds through unity and perseverance to meet expectations while adhering to university standards & procedures and ACHA regulations..
